Teresa May Steps Up To Mic In Davos, Gets Brutal Justice From Trump As She Begins To Speak
World leaders, influential executives, bankers, and policy makers converged on Davos, Switzerland, this week to attend the 48th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). British Prime Minister Theresa May was slated to speak at the prestigious gathering, but as soon as she stepped up to the mic, she got a nasty surprise, courtesy of President Donald Trump.

President Trump landed in Switzerland on Thursday and wasted no time before getting to work. “We’re very happy to be here,” he said as he arrived. “The United States is doing very well and will continue to do well and this will be a very exciting two days,” added the U.S. president.

“I think the real message is we want great prosperity and we want great peace,” he told pool reporters after holding back-to-back meetings with British Prime Minister Theresa May and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During his meeting with May, Trump said the two leaders have a “really great relationship, although some people don’t necessarily believe that.” He said it was a “false rumor” that the relationship was strained and that he wanted to “correct it.”

Daily Mail reported that Trump “recently canceled a planned trip to London to celebrate the opening of the new U.S. embassy. And last year, Trump and May traded criticism over his retweets of a far-right group’s anti-Muslim videos. Britain is eager to strike a free trade deal with the U.S. after it leaves the EU in 2019.”
“We are very much joined at the hip when it comes to the military. We have the same ideas, the same ideals, and there’s nothing that would happen to you that we won’t be there to fight for you. You know that,” Trump told May, who he hosted at the White House last year, days after taking office.
“I think the feeling is mutual from the standpoint of liking each other a lot,” Trump added during their meeting on Thursday. “We love your country.”
“As you say we had a great discussion today and we continue to have that really special relationship with the United States,” May replied. “We stand shoulder to shoulder because we face the same challenges around the world.”
However, even though Trump’s meeting with May was a success, she may have been left with a bad taste in her mouth after what happened during her speech.
Just as Theresa May was about to deliver a speech to the WEC, Donald Trump made his grand entrance, completely upstaging her. Attendees were so excited to see the president that they ditched the prime minister’s remarks, leaving her humiliated and speaking to a half-empty room.
“Theresa May was left red-faced after she gave her speech to a half-empty room in Davos as the crowds rushed out to see Donald Trump,” The Sun reported on Thursday. “The US President managed to upstage the Prime Minister’s big moment at the World Economic Forum this lunchtime.”
“As she tried to reach out and seek ‘new partners’ in trade after Brexit, her audience was instead elsewhere in the venue watching Mr. Trump make his way inside,” the British publication added.
Politico reporter Ryan Heath posted an image from the back of the room during May’s speech showing rows and rows of empty chairs. “It’s half empty as Theresa May takes the stage in Davos,” he wrote.

John Stackhouse, Senior Vice-President of the Royal Bank of Canada, tweeted a picture of the media frenzy surrounding Trump just outside where May was speaking. He captioned the photo, “Poor Theresa May. Just gave a solid, business-minded speech to a third-empty hall, as the crowd rushed out for this.”

I feel for Teresa May. I really do. You just can’t compete with Donald Trump. Perhaps she and Hillary Clinton can form a support group for female politicians who’ve had their dreams dashed by POTUS. #MAGA
