The clock is ticking and it’s only a matter of time before Trump’s DHS obtains a warrant for leaders of cities and states that hold sanctuary city policies, and welcome or encourage illegal immigrants to stay without being afraid of  legal arrest and deportation.
This list includes the names of people like Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, DiBlasio of New York and even Gerry Brown, Governor of California.
As the Washington Times has reported, Kirstjen Nielsen, the Secretary of Homeland Security has confirmed on Tuesday that her department has requested that federal prosecutors see if they can come up with criminal charges that would punish these sanctuary cities for refusing to cooperate with government deportation efforts.
The Secretary of Homeland Security told the Senate Judiciary Committee that : “The Department of Justice is reviewing what avenues may be available.”
Reportedly, Nielsen’s confirmation came after California passed a new sanctuary law, which went into effect January 1. This law harshly restricts cooperation of the state or any of its localities with federal deportation efforts.
Tom Homan, the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has said that such policies put increase the risk of his officers and local communities because they would be forced to make the arrests out in the community.
Last July, Homan said for The Washington Times that he wishes to see these local officials charged as complicit in human smuggling provided that they continue to protect illegal aliens with their sanctuary policies.
He restated that demand in a recent interview for the Fox News, for which he brought a lot of criticism upon himself.
What do you think about this?
Is Homan’s demand on point?
